The Association of Productivity

business students in honor of APS founding Chairman James B. Irwin.
Irwin has worked for nearly 40 years in the productivity improvement
field.
The first writing awards will be
presented in the spring of 2003, following an international
competition. Selections will be considered for publication in APS
Business Review, a magazine currently in development. Entry forms
and rules will be distributed in the spring of 2002.
APS, founded in 1976, trains and
certifies productivity specialists who implement strategies to make
companies more profitable. It also publishes a newsletter, APS
Quarterly.
Irwin, chairman of Integrated Control
Systems Inc., a leading productivity firm, endowed the International
IMPAC Dublin Literary Award in 1994. At 100,000 Irish pounds it is
the world's largest prize for a single work of fiction. IMPAC also
has a partnership with the Connecticut State University System and
Rotary International which awards $19,000 annually to teen-age
writers in Connecticut.

degree-granting, corporate university in Florida. The university is
licensed by the state of Florida to grant graduate degrees in
business.
"The APS Scholarship affirms the
lifetime achievements of Jim Irwin while assisting and inspiring
students for the world of business," said APS Chairman Robert
Jacobson.
The competition will be open to
business students in Europe, Asia and North America. Entrants must
be nominated by faculty or a corporate executive. APS will accept a
